Ever wonder what you did all day
despite how busy you were?
That's the wrong question!
The right question is WHY were you doing what you were doing. In other words, what outputs were you producing?
The good news is all the outputs produced by everyone in every company fill one of only seven buckets. So when you know which bucket you're working to fill two things happen.
- You know what to delegate
- You can spend more time doing what only you do best.

Systems are the Key to Scaling Your Company
A Company Only Has To Do Three Things Well
It’s the third one, the organization part that keeps many companies smaller than they could be. Especially companies under 100 employees. If you're frustrated with the growth of your company, here’s why there’s hope:
- Organizations are made up of functions (not jobs).
- Those functions are very similar across all industries.
- The CEO’s function is to build that organization.
- You're probably too busy doing other functions to focus on doing that CEO function well.

I just said you aren’t doing your job right. Why is that hopeful? Because except for the product you make, many of the functions of the organization are so similar across industries, you can copy from others. Chefs that make great food without a recipe can’t scale their restaurants. If you're struggling to scale your company, it's likely that you're a great chef, but your people need recipes.
